As a critic, I can appreciate the artistry and the emotions “Too Much To Lose” evokes. This collaboration brings together two seasoned and soulful voices in Southern Soul, Roi Chip and Sir Charles, who deliver a heartfelt song that many can relate to.

“Too Much To Lose” is a song that deserves a spot in your playlist rotation. This track is part of Roi Chip Anthony’s upcoming album, “Leo King Pt. 2,” and it carries an undeniable heat!

Roi Chip Anthony, a feel-good, soul-rooted R&B artist hailing from Louisiana, has impressed with numerous polished solo releases and his association with Keith Sweat. If you haven’t done so already, do yourself a favor and explore his track “Cloud NINE” – it’s an intriguing piece of work.

Now, let’s talk about the headliner for the 2nd Annual #SouthernSoulBluesOnTheRiver, taking place on August 12th at The Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre. Get ready to witness the undeniable talent of the undisputed King of Southern Soul, Mr. Sir Charles Jones. With notable achievements such as the International Entertainer of the Year and the B.B. King Achievement Award, Sir Charles Jones rightfully earned the title of the 2020 Southern Soul Artist of the Year by The Blues Critic staff.

On a scale of 1 to 5, the C&B team rates “Too Much To Lose” a respectable 3.5. The beat is pleasant and danceable, and Roi Chip and Sir Charles showcase good chemistry on the record. We also appreciate the accompanying music video. It serves as a valuable lesson in love for a young man who takes his woman for granted. Throughout the video, we witness the efforts of concerned family members trying to guide him towards understanding the significance of his actions. However, it seems that the realization dawns on him only towards the end. Karma has its way of teaching us valuable lessons, and love plays its part.

The visuals are complemented by Roi Chip’s choice of a tasteful mauve suit (not pink, ladies and gentlemen!) and Sir Charles’ regal appearance in his white-on-white ensemble. As the story unfolds, the men engage in a back-and-forth with the disgruntled boyfriend, but it becomes apparent that their advice doesn’t resonate with him. It almost seems as if they are attempting to convince him to cut his dreadlocks. However, a twist of fate arrives in the form of “Captain Save’em,” appearing in a black Maserati and sweeping the nephew’s girl away. Unfortunately, the heavyset fellow’s warning comes too late for the nephew. Love has taught him a harsh lesson.

Instead of acting like a fool and proclaiming “I’m done, I’m done” as if he has something to prove, he should have remembered that someone else is always ready to step in. The sad part in his case is that the new guy is significantly bigger and more muscular than the young man. It’s amusing to note that he didn’t rush out of that door, barking like he did before. It seems he learned his lesson. It was a poignant moment when he broke down in tears in the barbershop, in front of all those men. Sir Charles had to offer him comfort, and Roi had to encourage him to stand up straight, shake his hand, and even share the Wakanda forever chest bump. Perhaps he shouldn’t have acted foolishly in the first place.
