Roi Chip Anthony – Too Much To Lose ft Sir Charles Jones

Now, it’s time for you, the #SouthernSoulBluesSociety, to share your thoughts on our #SouthernSoulSaturday pick of the week, “Too Much To Lose” by Roi Chip Anthony featuring Sir Charles Jones. Maybe you’ll have the opportunity to speak with Sir Charles Jones in person at the second annual Southern Soul Blues On The River on August 12th at The Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre. Remember, last year’s event was sold out, so don’t miss your chance to join us for an unforgettable evening of soulful Southern sounds. Get your tickets early and be there to experience it all.

As a critic, I can appreciate the artistry and the emotions “Too Much To Lose” evokes. This collaboration brings together two seasoned and soulful voices in Southern Soul, Roi Chip and Sir Charles, who deliver a heartfelt song that many can relate to.

“Too Much To Lose” is a song that deserves a spot in your playlist rotation. This track is part of Roi Chip Anthony’s upcoming album, “Leo King Pt. 2,” and it carries an undeniable heat!

Roi Chip Anthony, a feel-good, soul-rooted R&B artist hailing from Louisiana, has impressed with numerous polished solo releases and his association with Keith Sweat. If you haven’t done so already, do yourself a favor and explore his track “Cloud NINE” – it’s an intriguing piece of work.

Now, let’s talk about the headliner for the 2nd Annual #SouthernSoulBluesOnTheRiver, taking place on August 12th at The Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre. Get ready to witness the undeniable talent of the undisputed King of Southern Soul, Mr. Sir Charles Jones. With notable achievements such as the International Entertainer of the Year and the B.B. King Achievement Award, Sir Charles Jones rightfully earned the title of the 2020 Southern Soul Artist of the Year by The Blues Critic staff.

On a scale of 1 to 5, the C&B team rates “Too Much To Lose” a respectable 3.5. The beat is pleasant and danceable, and Roi Chip and Sir Charles showcase good chemistry on the record. We also appreciate the accompanying music video. It serves as a valuable lesson in love for a young man who takes his woman for granted. Throughout the video, we witness the efforts of concerned family members trying to guide him towards understanding the significance of his actions. However, it seems that the realization dawns on him only towards the end. Karma has its way of teaching us valuable lessons, and love plays its part.

The visuals are complemented by Roi Chip’s choice of a tasteful mauve suit (not pink, ladies and gentlemen!) and Sir Charles’ regal appearance in his white-on-white ensemble. As the story unfolds, the men engage in a back-and-forth with the disgruntled boyfriend, but it becomes apparent that their advice doesn’t resonate with him. It almost seems as if they are attempting to convince him to cut his dreadlocks. However, a twist of fate arrives in the form of “Captain Save’em,” appearing in a black Maserati and sweeping the nephew’s girl away. Unfortunately, the heavyset fellow’s warning comes too late for the nephew. Love has taught him a harsh lesson.

Instead of acting like a fool and proclaiming “I’m done, I’m done” as if he has something to prove, he should have remembered that someone else is always ready to step in. The sad part in his case is that the new guy is significantly bigger and more muscular than the young man. It’s amusing to note that he didn’t rush out of that door, barking like he did before. It seems he learned his lesson. It was a poignant moment when he broke down in tears in the barbershop, in front of all those men. Sir Charles had to offer him comfort, and Roi had to encourage him to stand up straight, shake his hand, and even share the Wakanda forever chest bump. Perhaps he shouldn’t have acted foolishly in the first place.

Thank you for being part of our community, and stay tuned for more captivating content coming your way!

Remembering Jim Brown: A Multifaceted Icon

Introduction:

The world has lost a true legend as Jim Brown, the NFL icon, actor, and social activist, passed away at the age of 87. As we reflect on his remarkable life and contributions, C&B Entertainment Productions joins the #SouthernSoulBluesSociety in remembering Jim Brown, a man who shattered records on the football field, graced the silver screen, and left an indelible mark on society.

A Trailblazer in the NFL:

Born James Nathaniel Brown, Jim Brown was an extraordinary fullback who played for the Cleveland Browns from 1957 to 1965. During his relatively short NFL career, he achieved unparalleled success, setting numerous records and earning widespread acclaim. Brown’s enduring legacy in football is defined not only by his athletic prowess but also by his remarkable durability and unwavering commitment to the game. He played an impressive 118 straight games and never missed a single game in his nine seasons with the Cleveland Browns, even overcoming injuries such as a broken toe and a sprained wrist.

Transitioning to Hollywood:

Jim Brown’s impact reached far beyond the football field. After leaving the NFL, he made a seamless transition to the world of entertainment, establishing himself as a Hollywood icon. His initial foray into acting came with his appearance in the western film “Rio Conchos” in 1964, the “Dirty Dozen” 1967, and his popularity grew during the era of “blaxploitation” cinema in the early 1970s. Brown portrayed tough and no-nonsense characters in films such as “Slaughter” (1972), “Black Gunn” (1972), and “Three the Hard Way” (1974), captivating audiences with his commanding presence.

While his on-screen work in the late 1970s and 1980s primarily consisted of guest spots on popular TV shows like “CHiPs” (1977) and “Knight Rider” (1982), Jim Brown made a resurgence in high-quality films. Notably, his role as a fierce assassin in “The Running Man” (1987) showcased his versatility, and he brought humor and parody to the blaxploitation genre in the hilarious comedy “I’m Gonna Git You Sucka” (1988). One cannot forget the iconic scene when Jim Brown’s bunion was swollen, making it one of the funniest moments in movie history.

A Lasting Legacy:

Jim Brown’s contributions extended beyond football and acting. He served as a ringside commentator for the early events of the Ultimate Fighting Championships from 1993 to 1996, adding another chapter to his illustrious career. As a humanitarian and a warrior both on and off the field, Brown’s influence and impact were far-reaching. He remained actively engaged in various sports shows and TV productions, leaving an indelible mark on the entertainment industry until the end.

Conclusion:

As we celebrate the life of Jim Brown, we pay tribute to his extraordinary achievements as an NFL legend, actor, and social activist. His contributions to the world of sports and entertainment have left an indelible imprint on American culture. C&B Entertainment Productions joins the #SouthernSoulBluesSociety in remembering Jim Brown as a multifaceted icon, a man who exemplified resilience, talent, and unwavering dedication. May his legacy continue to inspire generations to come.

Johnny Taylor: The Legacy Lives On

Johnny Taylor: The Legacy Lives On! We here at C&B Entertainment Productions would like to pay tribute to Johnny Taylor, one of the most iconic Southern Soul Blues artists in history, by posting a video tribute on their website. The tribute features Johnnie Taylor’s “Soul Heaven” along with other legendary artists such as Sam Cook, Miles Davis, Sammy Davis, BB King, Ko Ko Taylor, Aaliyah, Aretha Franklin, and more who have passed away. C&B Entertainment Productions considers it an honor to pay tribute to Johnny Taylor, whose music continues to inspire and move people today. If he were still alive, C&B would undoubtedly be booking him for shows and bringing him to Detroit to share his talent with the community.

Johnny Taylor’s career began in Gregory, Arkansas, where he was born and raised. He started as a gospel singer before transitioning to R&B music after moving to Los Angeles in 1950. Taylor recorded for various labels throughout his career but did not achieve major success until he signed with Galaxy Records, a subsidiary of San Francisco-based Fantasy Records. It was there that he recorded his biggest hit, “Part Time Love,” which topped the U.S. Billboard R&B chart and reached number 19 on the pop chart in October 1963. Despite having several other hits throughout his career, including “Everybody Knows About My Good Thing,” which reached the R&B Top 10 in 1971, Taylor’s legacy extends far beyond his chart success. His soulful voice, heartfelt lyrics, and smooth delivery earned him a devoted fanbase that still cherishes his music today.

C&B Entertainment Productions recognizes the importance of honoring artists like Johnny Taylor, who helped shape the Southern Soul Blues genre. They are committed to creating unforgettable live music experiences that connect fans with the music they love. As they celebrate the anniversary of Johnny Taylor’s death, they send love and prayers to his family and ask their readers to share their thoughts and memories of this legendary artist.
